Tannery Sued Over Brain Tumor Clusters

A judge has issued a temporary restraining order in a lawsuit alleging that toxic chemicals from a tannery has led to a cluster of brain tumors in Cameron, Missouri. The town has seen approximately seventy people diagnosed with brain tumors in the last twelve years.

Although federal investigators have not determined the cause of the tumors, the lawsuit points to Prime Tanning Corporation.

The complaint alleges that for nearly twenty years, the tannery supplied toxic chemicals used in removing hair from hides, to farmers for use as a fertilizer.

The temporary restraining order prevents the tannery from destroying any documents related to the toxic chemicals.
